Women in Black: Who’s Wearing Whom?

KatieWatch091809

Katie, vary the jackets; explore styles other than the blazer.  Nice choice of shells--normally the black and white stripes with a black jacket is a great look.  However, here it's ineffective as we can barely see the shell.  Also, a darker lipstick with this outfit would keep the black from wearing you.

Katie Couric: What You’re Really Saying Here is “Blah, blah, blah!”

KatieWatch092509

Katie, you’ve got to tell your teenage children they can’t give you fashion advice anymore. You are so pretty, it makes me sad to see you wearing such unimaginative, collegiate-looking outfits week after week. What would Walter say? I hear his wonderful deep voice introducing you, and I want you to show off for him! …

Katie Couric: Style Resurrected, Now Add a Little “Ooomph!”

KatieWatch092409

Katie, this suit has great potential, and I love that you haven’t been wearing those “daddy jacket” blazers lately. All you need to make this suit rock is to add a great brooch in silver. Maybe something with a flower shape. Darker lipstick, too. This one suggests "Nickelodeon," when it should assert "CBS Evening News: …

Katie Couric: Red Speaks to Us, but Necklace Simply Sighs

KatieWatch092109

Katie, you look so much more dynamic and friendly when you wear “color.” Red signifies action, courage and enthusiasm, so it’s a perfect color for you. Unfortunately, the necklace is to wimpy to wear with dynamic red. Interactive: What can you readers spot this week?

Lost in the Color Void

KatieWatch091709

Katie, you're blending into this outfit--there's neither contrast nor complement between its hues and your own.  Don't fade away on your viewers. Try jewel tones; they're great fall colors, and who doesn't admire a great emerald or ruby?

Pinky Promise: No More Grungy Green and Frosty Pastel Lips, Deal?

KatieWatch0916092

Katie, if your blouse didn’t have a lot of white you'd look quite somber. Olive green is a grunge color, and it’s also a camouflage color. In essence, it isn’t a happy color. You look so much prettier in clear, primary colors. Remember, when you wear drab colors you need a fuchsia lipstick, or a …

Anchor Your Image with Bolder Statements

KatieWatch0916091

Katie, nice lipstick choice!  This gives you a lift while allowing you to maintain a professional look. But you need your entire outfit to carry your look as well.  Grey can be perceived as a wishy-washy color, and your demure earrings and necklace aren’t bold enough to give your jacket and top a more powerful …

Bold Color Choice, But Passive Jewelry Makes a Different Statement

KatieWatch091509

Katie, love your beautiful fuchsia top – it is a nice complement to the grey blazer jacket.  Try accessorizing with the same strength; your delicate teardrop necklace and small pearl studs shout “teenager” and undermine your presence. I'm curious, readers:  What will you spot this week?

Sad and Dreary Friday? Easy Fix.

KatieWatch091109

Katie, no one looks good in camouflage green. Trust me on this. First of all, it’s a grunge color, so it is quite dreary in tone. Secondly, grey is a sad color unless you perk it up with a positive color, including lipstick and accessories. Sorry, but three strikes and you’re out. What do you …

Chris Brown Can’t Fool Us All

DumontBlogChrisBrown091109

Chris brown must have heard that blue signifies trust and a sense of calm.  But he went a little overboard with this baby-blue ensemble.  Instead of looking trustworthy he looks a little clownish, as bowties leave a "whimsical" impression.  Here Brown missed the mark in a “trustworthy costume," which ironically may have directed viewers' attention …
